Because we are pretty curious, running our own research department at Corporate Sound AG. Because we have repeatedly been experimenting with unheard-of sound ideas. For instance, city sound interventions involving startling sounds out of gullies, loudspeaker systems buried in sand as a new form of sound installation, or even cinematic multi-channel live audio drama.

Abundant in experience, we have learnt how things really do work, both in terms of content or dramaturgy, and also on a technological or organizational level. You may benefit from that.

CITY INSTALLATION "UNDERWORLDS"

In cooperation with the Association For The Hearing Impaired of North-West-Switzerland and the City of Basel, we conducted an artistic sound installation with a very clear and defined aim: To make pedestrians aware of the preciousness of hearing.

People walking along the street get startled out of their thoughts and routine. They are intended to break their stride for a short moment and experience an acoustic adventure in a completely surprising and unheard-of way. The sounds are coming from below the street – where they never come from. The setting is astonishing, yet what can be heard is basically familiar and pleasant.

HEADROOM city sound intervention in 2005

With 120 speakers, 16 sound channels and 30’000 watt power in the middle of the pedestrian zone in Basel, sound worlds appeared in an unheard-of intensity and sound quality.
